2015 SASFAA
Conference Information
I
hope everyone has had a great start to the fall term on your campus! The 2014-2015 SASFAA Conference Committee
met at the end of July to start planning for the upcoming conference. The
committee has been working very hard and is planning an informative and fun
event for you in Memphis!
The
conference website is now available to you at: http://www.sasfaa.org/annualconference/welcome.
SASFAA’s 53rd Annual Conference will be February 22
– 25, 2015 at the historic Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN. I am very happy
to share with you the conference registration fee will remain the same this
year at $275. We will also continue to offer a one-day rate for those who
cannot attend the entire conference. Additionally, we will offer two
Pre Conference Workshops: our
traditional New Aid Officers Workshop and a Mid-Level Aid Administrator Workshop will be held Sunday, February 22, 2015. Attend one of these fantastic
training opportunities for a budget friendly cost of only $50! Conference
and Pre Conference Workshop registration will be available soon. The opening
session will begin on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 4:00 pm Central Standard
Time.
Our
host hotel, The Peabody Memphis, is simply amazing! The hotel room rate
is $159 a night plus applicable taxes (15.95%). The cut-off date for
hotel reservations is January 21, 2015. You can make your hotel
reservations online now by following the link on the conference
website. Reservations can also be made by calling the hotel.
Self-parking is available to SASFAA guests at a reduced rate of $10 per day!
As
you may know, the Executive Board voted to assign different states the
opportunity to support a charity from their state since the conference rotation
no longer includes all nine SASFAA states. This year is the state of
Alabama’s year, and SASFAA has selected the Big Oak Ranch as the non-profit
charity organization to support. More information will be forthcoming
about the different charity event opportunities. If you would like to read more
about the Big Oak Ranch you can
visit their website at http://bigoak.org.
John
Croyle, the founder of the Big Oak Ranch, will be our keynote motivational
speaker. John has a powerful message you will not want to miss!!
Justin Draeger (NASFAA President) and Eileen O’Leery (NASFAA Chair) will join us
along with David Bartnicki and Wood Mason from the U.S. Department of
Education. We will provide additional information about Department of
Education representation as it becomes available.
The
Local Arrangements Committee has put
together a list of the many dining options and attractions you can enjoy while
you are in Memphis. Be sure to check the Conference Website frequently
for updates!
Please
let me know if I can be of assistance as you plan your attendance and travel to
the conference, and I look forward to seeing you in Memphis as we continue Uncovering
our Purpose, Power, and Passion!
2015
SASFAA Conference Chair
